How to Prevent Kidney Stones: 8 Steps Backed by NIH and Trials

The Well Brew card titled Prevent Kidney Stones, with the line Water, salt, calcium and diet by stone type

To prevent kidney stones, drink enough fluid, mostly water, to pass at least 2 liters of urine a day, about six to eight 8-ounce glasses. Keep sodium under 2,300 mg, eat less animal protein, and keep normal calcium from food. In a 5-year trial, more water cut repeat stones from 27 of 100 people to 12 of 99. Your stone type guides the rest.

Read the label first. Then decide.
